Classes descriptions

With a choice of over 50 fitness sessions each week covering a wide variety of classes from high energy Zumba and SPIN® through to holistic yoga and pilates, we offer something to suit everyone.

The majority of classes take place at the Pemberton Centre and the Nene Centre.  Splash Leisure Pool and the Nene Centre offer water-based fitness classes.  

Class Description
Aerobics Dance-based routines to raise the heart rate and increase your fitness
Aqua Fit Exercise class using water resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone. Suitable for people of all ages and mobility.
Aqua Zumba® Low impact class combining a traditional workout in the water with great music.  It's safe but challenging ... cardio-conditioning, body-toning and FUN!
Body Balance™ East meets West.  A combination of yoga, pilates and stretch, designed to increase core strength and flexibility.
Body Blast Fun but challenging full-body workout.  Uses a mixture of resistance, cardio and body-weight exercises designed to improve strength, build endurance and blast yhour body into shape!
Body Combat™/Cardio Kick Highly motivating fun workout with martial arts based moves to powerfully charged music.
Body Blast Fun but challenging full-body workout.  Using a mixture of resistance, cardio and body weight exercises, this class is designed to improve strength, build endurance and blast your body into shape!
Body Pump™/Pump It Barbell weights class, fantastic for toning and increasing strength.  You choose your weights to suit your ability and enjoy music designed to motivate.
BOKWA®

BOKWA® is different.  It is not really a dance workout – there is no choreography and no counting steps. Participants draw letters and numbers with their feet, while moving together to music in free form rhythm

Boxercise®  In Boxercise® you use your whole body - and the time flies as you work on body movement, agility and momentum.  
Dance Fit A great combination of dance and aerobics.  It's simple, easy and calorie burning.
FitSteps®

A fitness class delivered through dance, inspired by TV's "Strictly Come Dancing".  It mixes the graceful steps of Ballroom Dancing with up tempo Latin movements to create a really fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit and keep trim. 

GRIT™ Cardio

Rapidly improves athletic capability.  Maximises your calorie burn within the workout and helps burn fat for hours afterwards.  Intense cardio - cardio is scientifically proven to deliver results fast

GRIT™ Plyo

Builds power and increases speed plus leg strength.  Increases muscular endurance and stamina for competitive sports events.  Uses power agility training to transform muscle fibre and produce a lean, athletic shape

GRIT™ Strength

Builds strength and tones lean muscle.  Puts your metabolism into overdrive to burn fat for hours after the workout.  Stimulates the production of growth hormone which will help reduce fat and help develop lean muscle

Hydro HiiT This is a pool-based, intense workout session.  Participants need a good base level of fitness.  Get your heart pumping, burn fat, improve muscle tone and build strength
Insanity A revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program based on MAX Interval Training. By using Interval Training, INSANITY pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, and a more efficient metabolism.
My Ride/My Sportif Both are SPIN® classes with a virtual instructor based in the Pemberton's dedicated cycling studio.  See timetable for different levels of intensity - from low intensity fat burn through to advanced interval
Nice N Easy  Entry level class ideal for those just starting out at any age.  Low level impact class designed to improve cardio fitness and conditioning.
Pilates Controlled movement to improve core strength and stability
Piloxing® Uniquely blends the power, speed and agility of Boxing with exhilerating Dance moves and targeted sculpting and flexibility of Pilates.  Put it all together and you have a muscle-tonming, fat-burning workout which will make you feel physiclaly and mentally empowered!
PiYo Combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of flowing yoga movements. Blending dynamic poses with fluid movements, you'll build strength, burn calories, and improve flexibility, athleticism, and mind-body connection. When you're done, you'll feel the exhilarating high that comes with doing something restorative for your body.
Salsacise Fusion of Salsa, Cha-Cha, Merengue and Hip-Hop combined with high impact Aerobics.  It's a fantastic cardiovascular exercise helping to burn fat from the hips, thighs and stomach whilst improving your fitness and helping you feel great.  Be prepared to burn a lot of calories!
SPIN®/RPM™/Group Cycling Cycle class designed to burn plenty of calories.  Let the music sweep you away.
Super Circuits  A different activity each week makes circuits the class if you like surprises. 
Supple Strength Encourages participants to engage their minds as well as their muscles!  Blending elements of Yoga, Pilates and Body Conditioning, this is a challenging holistic workout.  You will explore exercises geared towards building strengtjh and flexibility through a focus on posture, core stability and body alignment
SwimFit** Instructor-led swimming where you start your session at a level to suit you.  Participants do need to have some swimming ability.  Motivates, challenges & supports you to reach your individual fitness goals
Tai Chi Taiji (Tai Chi) is a healing martial art that combines many martial arts movements with Qi (energy) circulation, breathing, and stretching techniques.
20 20 20  Conditioning class mixing different genres of exercise including step, aerobics, LBT and more
Yoga A class for the mind as much as the body.  Work on breathing, relaxation, toning and flexibility
Zumba® Energetic dance class to Latin music.  Ditch the workout and join the party! 
  • Classes can be booked up to 7 days in advance but please let us know if you need to cancel
  • Group Classes are FREE to Aspirations Wellbeing Members apart from those marked **
  • If you are not as Aspirations Wellbeing Member but feel that you will use classes regularly you may wish to purchase one of our Wellbeing Cards (pay for 10 and receive 11 classes)
  • All classes are suitable for all levels of ability

**SwimFit costs £2.50 for Members and £5 for non-Members
